Not all state highpoints are very high. Jerimoth Hill, Rhode Island’s highest point, is a small rock several hundred feet south of Route 101 near the border of Connecticut. For years, difficult nearby property owners made the site inaccessible, but ownership was passed to Brown University and then the state government, which has since opened access to the location.
